The
Decree of the Italian Ministry of Public Works of 9th January
1996 containing the "technical
regulations for the calculation, execution and final inspection of
structures in reinforced, normal and pre-compressed concrete and for metal
structures", prescribes in annex 2 that the
controls on mixes must be performed by compression testing cubic or
cylindrical test pieces, calibrated and packaged with appropriate forms.
The quality control of the mix is aimed at ascertaining that
the produced mix has a characteristic resistance not below that specified
in the project. |

The
technical standard which regulates the "Shape, dimensions and tolerances
of test pieces in concrete
packaged in cubic, cylindrical and prism shapes, and the forms required to
produce them is UNI EN 12390-1 of June 2002.

Point
5 of this standard indicates the dimensional and flatness tolerances, and
the characteristics of the materials which may be used for making the
forms.
